Cruizin'

Carnival Triumph

Last week, February 13-18, I went on a Carnival Cruse to Progreso and Cozumel Mexico out of Galveston. I went with my Mom, my Aunt Barbara, my cousin Chris, my cousin-in-law Crystal and our family friend Ann.

They came down to my house on Sunday the 12th from Dallas and spent the night at our house, then we drove to Galveston on Monday morning.  Crystal flew in to Dallas on Saturday the 11th from Arizona.

It was raining cats and dogs on Monday all the way to Galveston and the first day of sailing, but when we woke up on Tuesday morning it was gorgeous and it was warm. The further we sailed the warmer the air got. It was so beautiful too.
Leaving Galveston
The next day, just beautiful!
Because of the bad weather at first, the ship rocked a LOT.  In fact, when you walked down the hallways you were staggering like a drunk person.  The cruise director told us that those who were staggering down the halls were sober and the ones walking a straight line were drunk, LOL. I had some issues with nausea because of the rocking.  I had the patch on, but still felt it, so my cousin gave me Dramamine and that relieved it for me. If I wouldn't of had the patch on, I think I would have been sick the entire trip!  Glad that did not happen!

The Couples Game Show in the Rome Lounge
Tuesday was Valentines day and we spent the entire day at sea.  We went to welcome show, with singers and dancers and we went to a married couple game that was hilarious.

We had breakfast in the Paris Dining Hall and a lunch buffet on the Lido Deck (deck 9).  Our dinner was an assigned time at 6 PM in the London Dining Room, table 319.  We had the same waiters all week long and it was fun to get to know them.  We especially enjoyed Benjamin from Honduras. He has been doing this for 17 years and was such a joy.  On the menus they had an item each night called dija, meaning "did you ever want to try it before..." The first night was escargot and yes I had some and liked it.  They also had an amazing desert called Chocolate melting Cake. Let me tell you, this was a chocolate lover's dream come true.  On Valentine's Day they had a special chocolate fudge cake shaped like a heart and my cousin, Mike had a white cake with pink icing delivered to Crystal and she was sweet enough to share with all of us. I also had Lobster for dinner and it was delish!

Our waiters for the week, Benjamin is in the middle.
Chocolate Melting Cake, sooooo good!
The special Valentine's Day cake.
Yummy Lobster Dinner!

The next day we stopped in Progreso and I think I will break down each day, otherwise this will be an extremely long blog. Stay tuned for more cruizin'....

College Station High School

Last night, Luther, Ryan and I went to a meeting given by the principle of the new College Station High School.  He went over some time lines and things to look out for in the next few months before school begins.  We got to see pictures of construction updates and WOW this school will be amazing.  The cafeteria holds 700 kids at lunch. That was the size of my graduating class.

Ryan will be going there next year as a sophomore and he will be in the first graduating class. he is very excited about that.  He did say it was going to be crazy to get around the school.  One wing has 3 stories and the other wing has 4.  It is the largest High School in the state of Texas square feet wise.

The mascot is the cougars and the colors are black and purple.  I am excited too because I will be a Cougar Mom!

Super Bowl Sunday

Well, here it is Super Sunday. It's the Giants and the Patriots...ewww.  I really don't care for either team, but I will enjoy the food and halftime show and let's not forget those ever anticipated commercials. It's funny because the other night a commercial came on during American Idol about SBS and they mentioned Madonna.  I asked Ryan if he knew who Madonna was and he said "no".  Really??? Then Luther and I proceeded to educate him on how Madonna was an icon.  It was weird, but then I thought about it, she has been out of the music scene for quite a while now unlike other icons that make new stuff each decade.   Then we had to look up her age and prove to him she was older than me.  He just could not believe that. It was kind of funny his reaction.

Yesterday was Ryan's last wrestling matches for the season.  We spent the day at Killeen Shomaker High School.  Ryan's first match was first.  How crazy is that out of all the possible matches and kids he went first.  Wrestling is unlike any other sport, you can never figure out who goes when because they change up the order almost every time. It's crazy! Consol had a good showing for our district yesterday, Evan finished 1st, Jacob, Jacob, Wes and Andrew finished 2nd and Logan finished 3rd in their weight classes.  They will go to regionals next week, but the rest of the guys are finished for the year.  Ryan's record for the year was 6-12 and his coach said that was really good for a freshman on Varsity.  We are so proud of him! Keep in mind Ryan has never wrestled in his life until this past November and has been going up against some kids who have done it all their lives.  His coach was especially proud of him for not giving up and not quitting.  Way to go son!  Next year will be different, he will have some experience under his belt and the rest of off season to learn even more.

Just to prove how much he has improved, the last boy he wrestled yesterday, he wrestled last month.  That boy pinned him in about 30 seconds.  Yesterday, Ryan lasted almost 2 periods with that same boy. How sweet is that?

Honey, Papa and Ryan

This is Ryan with Honey and Papa after the A&M Consolidated vs. Bryan match last week. (Luther's Mom and Dad)

There she blows!

Well, it is storming outside big time.  Just got a Code Maroon a few minutes ago about a tornado warning.  We are getting ready for a trip to Killeen  for the District Wrestling Meet tomorrow.  Ryan has to be at A&M Consolidated by 5:30 AM to catch the bus.  I really should think about going to bed right now so I can get up. Nah.... the hubby is driving, so I can sleep on the way. Something tells me he will have something else in mind.  I sure hope this storm passes soon and the weather will clear up for the trip tomorrow.  Did I mention, Ryan is a freshman on the varsity team?  He is in the 120 weight class.

The beginning of a new thing.....

Blogs have become very popular in this day and age.  I took the plunge today and decided to start my own so that when I am old and gray, I can look back on the memories that will be long forgotten. My only child, Ryan is a freshman in High School, so I won't have all those "little kid" memories, but I figured, hey, it's never to late to start and get those precious moments recorded. So here we go....
