Consol Wrestling Party on May 19th

We attended Ryan's end of the year wrestling party on May 19th and I forgot to add the pictures from the event and write a post afterwards.  I was looking through my pictures and saw them and it reminded me to add it to the blog.

It was a great night and we had a really nice time.  Yummy steak for dinner, visiting with the other parents and the awards.  The boys went swimming after dinner and some of them stayed the night to camp.  It was out in the country at Evan's home.  Ryan decided not to camp out, but I think he really wanted to change his mind as we were leaving.

A Sophomore! What? What?

Today was Ryan's last day of his freshman year.  He had an incredible year with excellent grades, perfect attendance (very impressive), wrestling on the varsity team and overall, just a great kid.  We had our ups and downs, especially the ole' gotta get up in the morning thing, but we made it and it was a wonderful year. And hey, I am NOT a morning person, so I completely empathize with that one.

We are looking forward to a great Summer with MMA and going to Granny and Pappy's for a week.  I know it will fly by just like this past year, but the next school year will be even more special. New school, first graduating class from that school, new wrestling adventure with all NEW equipment (maybe his sweats won't be 3 times too big this coming year cause that's all they had) and a new coach.

Good luck my son in your sophomore year, hope it is as amazing or more than your freshman year! Farewell to A&M Consolidated and hello to College Station High School! You are a Cougar now!

Memorial Day Weekend

This was a great weekend!  Saturday, we went to a pool party and cookout to celebrate not only Memorial day, but our friend Trey's Birthday.  It was a very nice time with burgers and swimming. It was great to spend the evening with our friends we have not seen in a while.

Sunday, we went to the mall and looked in just about every store for work pants for Luther.  We had no luck and he needs long black dress pants for his new position.  Ryan was going to the movies with Brandon and Lindsay, so Luther and I decided to drive down to the outlet mall in Houston because they have a Casual Male Big and Tall and that is where we were able to find his work shorts last time.  They had 2 pair of pants he liked and they were the last ones they had.  We even tried to get more information to order them online, but they were discontinued.  Well, we bought the last two and hopefully they will work.  Maybe Luther will continue to loose more weight and it will be easier to find some in town when he reaches new sizes.  I guess this could be more motivation for him.  We did score some Nike's for Luther, they were on clearance for 13 dollars at the Nike Outlet store.  That doesn't happen often!

When we got back to town, we met Ryan, Lindsay and Brandon for dinner.  It was pretty late, so we had to go to three places before we found something open.  We ended up at Ozona.

Monday, Luther had to work till two.  I got in the pool while he was at work and when he got home, we went to Honey and Papa's house for dinner and a visit.

This was a beautiful weekend and filled with lots of family and friends.  I love long weekends, I wish they could last longer!

Luther's Promotion

Saturday, Luther was promoted to the store manager of Carquest Auto Parts in College Station.  It's going to take a few months of working open to close to get things going the way he needs them to be, but at least they are closed on Sundays.  Congratulations to my awesome hubby, Ryan and I are so proud of you!

First Accident at MMA

Last night Ryan had his first MMA accident.  He fell on his leg and it went the wrong way.  He will be fine and I'm sure this is not the last injury.  I don't get too squeamish anymore, but we haven't had the mega bone poking through the skin injury yet and I hope we NEVER do!

Moose

We took Moose along with us to one of Ryan's MMA workouts.  I decided this was a good photo opportunity.  He sooooo cute!  We love our Moosey!

Show Time 2012 Choir Concert

Last night Ryan had the final choir concert of the year.  It was a blast!  The kids were dressed casual in matching t-shirts and the shirts had all the kid's names printed on the back.  The theme was show tunes so there were a lot of fun songs unlike the UIL concert.  It was a lot of fun for them and the audience.  I still think the men's choir has the most hilarious song choices and their last song even got them a standing ovation.  They sang a song about instruments and Ryan was a drum. It was hilarious.

Papa, Honey and Lindsay joined us at the concert and even though I seriously believe the auditorium at Consol is the coldest place in Bryan-College Station, we all had a great time!

Next year Ryan will not be able to take choir because of his schedule.  I wish there was a way to fit it in because he really has enjoyed this past year.  On another note, all the Consol choirs got ones across the board at UIL competition, so they are all exempt from their final exams.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was a super nice day for me.  First, my sweet husband cooked me breakfast in bed.  I ate and got up and we had some things to do before him, Ryan and I went to meet the family at Rosa's for Mother's Day dinner.  We had a very nice time at dinner wishing Honey a Happy Mother's Day.

When we got home I called my Mom to wish her a Happy Mother's day and found out she had a nice day too.  Then, Luther and I watched some TV together and My Aunt Carol surprised me with a call from California to wish me a Happy Mother's Day.  That was so awesome of her.

She will be driving to Texas in June and Ryan and I will be going up to Plano to spend time with her while she is here.  We are both super excited about the trip!

I hope all my family and friends had a wonderful Mother's day with their families like I did.

Bittersweet Reunion

Tonight was a bittersweet reunion with some of our very longtime friends.  I am talking about friends who grew up with Luther since junior high, friends who were in our wedding and us in theirs, friends we used to gather with every time we got a chance.

Today we were all together for a viewing because one of the Dads of our group passed away.  We walked in the door of the funeral home and bam, they were all there.  I was so happy to see them all and all of us being together again under one roof except for the circumstances which brought us together.

It made me think, I mean really, really think.  I love each and every one of them and it seems we are all in our own worlds now, have our own families and just are passing through time without making time for each other.  One family lives out of town, but it's only Houston, not that far. The sad thing is the rest of them are still here in town.  I think it is time to change all this and make a better effort to be present in their lives.

I want each of them to know they have a place in my heart and I miss us.  I have very joyous memories of all of them and I want to make new ones to treasure.  I know we are all busy, but being present in each other's lives should be a priority and I am now committing to making that happen.  People are important and these are people I have loved and cherished and I want them to know I still do.

Life is to precious to miss out on being with the people you love!

Busy, but Amazing Weekend!

This past weekend was a very busy, but fun filled weekend.  First, Friday night, Luther and I went to watch some friends play softball in Bryan for the Budweiser Tournament.  The game was at 7, which they won, but the next time they played was at midnight, so needless to say, we did not go to that game.

Ryan was not with us because he was at his buddy's house, who just got his driver's license, yep it's about to start....  Anyway, they hung out after school and then went to the late movies.

Luther and I had time to go to the game and meet up with Brandon and Lindsay for dinner and get home in time to wait up for Ryan.

Saturday morning, I met up with my friend, Carol, at Starbucks.  We sat outside and had a great time for over 3 hours. It was a wonderful time together and I love having girl time!  Then, I went home and picked up Ryan and Moose to go to Raven's Birthday party (you can read about this and see pictures in my earlier post).

Today, we were invited to watch the NASCAR race with Bobby and Dianne at their house.  It was another fun afternoon even though none of the drivers we cheer for won.  Now after this great weekend, all I have to figure out is when I am going to get my laundry done!

Yes, I Went to a Dog's Birthday Party!

Saturday I went to my sis-in-law's dog's birthday party. And yes I did say a dog's birthday party.  It was at the dog park in College station and Ryan and I went along with our dog Moose.  It was Raven's first birthday and there was a dog cake for the dogs and a people cake for the people.  There was all the makings of a real birthday party with a banner, party hats and presents.  There were about 6 dogs at the part and many more people.  It was my first ever dog party and there was no way I was missing it. I had to see what this was all about. I even took pictures to prove this really happened.
